The impact of Orthokeratology lens wear on binocular vision and accommodation: A short-term prospective study
Purpose : To investigate the effects of short-term orthokeratology(OK) on accommodation and binocular visual function in young adults. Methods: 24 myopes (18 -35 years) were fitted with OK lenses in both eyes. Best corrected distance visual acuity, subjective & objective refractions, corneal topography & a series of binocular vision tests were measured at baseline before lens wear & then repeated after 28 nights of OK. Data from 15 subjects who demonstrated successful OK lens fit are reported. Inclusion criteria Before fitting with OK Distance spherical equivalent refractive error of -1 D to -4 D & less than or equal to 1.5 DC astigmatism No prior rigid gas permeable contact lens wear Good ocular health & no contraindications for OK lens wear After fitting with OK Unaided distance visual acuity of 0.1 logMAR or better after OK Residual spherical equivalent refractive error of no more than ± 0.50 D Well fitting OK lenses demonstrated by relativ...
